Oregon Blue Mountain Temple Boxing
By Eugene Ashland

In the way of our land and it's people Oregon Blue Mountain Temple Boxing (OBMTB) was created. Sprung from the volcanic wilds of North Americas last pristine wilderness. As with many kung fu / martial arts we too have studied the environment and adopted the skills of nature which surrounds us. We have no tiger to watch or to teach us, but there is the mountain lion or puma to observe. Obviously lacking a phoenix we research the ways of the native raptor of our land the great golden eagle. The wiliness of the coyote, the stealth of the raccoon, the strength of the bear... all have been assimilated into our matrix of mayhem. OBMT Boxing is comprised of various methods of "natural" styles of Kung Fu from the far east and some of the Native American methods which are indigious to this region. The blend of cultural and combative elements have created the ancient / modern hybrid that has become the fighting hallmark of the these fierce mountain dwelling Oregon hill people.

The fresh flowing waters of our land represent the clear, pure mind which Oregon Blue Mountain Temple Boxers must strive to achieve and maintain. Each of the arms of an Oregon Blue Mountain Boxer are like a powerful salmon, swimming upstream against the current of combat. Each day we hunt for inner power and bath in the glacial waters which flow forth from the mountain vastness. Our great wolfhounds "Slasher" and "Balthus" enter the spirit strengthening waters with us. Gladly challenging the body numbing cold, shrugging it off as we mutually laugh and spar about. Seemingly man and beast training together. Hounds of many kinds are part of the greater Oregon Blue Mountain Boxing method we espouse. Hounds in large number (aka dog packs) are believed by the mountain folk to bring concentrated life force energy to any humans nearby. Their powerful combined chi force magnifies and strengthens that of our own. It is why the ancient Kings of yore always were surrounded by packs of hounds. They too understood this ancient blessing.

One of the classic actions a OBMT Boxer will often play is called "paddock runner". Barefooted the trainee runs into the mountain pasture. There lives the viper of the mountains, also the mountain cactus with it's four inch spines and skin disolving acids. Daring and skill must accompany the "paddock runner" at all times. The lava rock strewn about must be dodged, jumped and avoided. The skindle duck (also known as "spivers clawed ringneck") lurks in the nearby sagebrush. An odd creature which has vestigal claws on it's wings. It uses the vestigal wing-claws to fly directly toward its prey and stun them from the raking blow it delivers. For a man while not usually lethal, such an attack can leave serious wounds. The skindle duck attacks anything in its sight or flight range when aroused. (The farmers hereabouts hate them and will kill them on sight). For us it is all part of the greater test, a rite of passage. A skilled OBMT Boxer will dodge these attacks and keep running through the paddock, leaping over viper, dodging claws and brushing aside the mountain cacti as if they were mere childrens amusements!

The Deeper Levels of Depth. Endeavoring to perservere:

Once the initial training is completed the real OBMT Boxing lessons can begin. We like all fighting methods start with basic action and ideas. The foundation we lay shall be the support for many years of defensive developments. The basics are comprised of twelve movements. All twelve moves are conceptual in nature. Hence they are open to wide, liberal interpretation. From these twelve spring forth six offspring techniques. And three come from the six. Therein lie the inner most secrets of the 21 deadly movimientos of OBMT Boxing. Some people will probably ask: How can a method with only 21 movements be effective in this violent modern world? Exactly! Let me explain it to you in greater detail. (And remember, you are under sworn oath as of now to reveal none of this to other fighter friends or fellow kung fu masters. Let us proceed with caution!

Movement set One: "Boulder Striking" - no we don't mean to hit rocks. We mean to strike hard, like a rock, with major force.
This is physical power striking w/ the upper body. Like a rock avalanche we engulf the enemy before us.

Movement set Two: Next comes the "Water Striking" methods - Both upper and lower body strikes are allowed.
Wave like force from the legs and waist - overwhelming authority generated with ease!

Movement set Three: Called the "Charm" .. aka "Good Luck" from the saying "the 3rd time is the charm"... it all comes together in set 3 !
Tests are severe, ability is extreme or you fail. One year between tests if you fail.

Movement set Four: Standing grappling: "Elk and Bear wrestling" methods come into play. The saying is: "Arms like antlers, control power like bear". A mountain - sea change if you will. Go-Ti has nothing on this!

Movement set Five: "Shadow boxing" - learning the ancient skills of invisibility - interplays of light, shadow, color and sound.
Using the shadows as shelter. Knowing the ways of being "unseen", un-noticed, unexpected.. Get GREY friend.

To learn more of the 16 Movimiento sets that are left you must first visit an authorized Blue mountain Temple Boxing Center. There is one in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
Your garb must show that you are of the tribe and ready to learn the secrets. Properly armed and clothed then you are lead in to the circle by an elder and your education in OBMT Boxing can then begin in ernest.

OBMT Boxing Traditional Mountain Weapons:

Traditional weapons of the OBMT Boxing would be the axe, hatchet, chainsaw, entrenching tool and the highly specialized "Bow-ax". Found only in the northwest, the traditional OBMT Boxing Bow-ax is a blend of two powerful weapons, the Axe and the Bowie knife. Our native craftsmen produce a uniquely balanced weapon and tool from their humble forges and armories which dot the hills of these bucolic mountain communities.

A mere normal person cannot use a Bow-ax without proper instruction. Lurking fears that they may accidently decapitate themselves or their comrades seem to abound in the secret Bow-ax training circles. But once the secrets of the Bow-ax and it's methods are learnt there is not a tree, log, branch or bush that will be able to withstand the fury that a Bow-ax warrior like yourself can unleash upon their leafy evil plant souls !.One trains by thrashing the savagery out of the forest about you. The OBMTB has a saying "Hit a tree with force, kill a man of course"... ". Never a truer warriors chant than that eh? Ok, warriors go forth -- "Find an Oak and Make it Croak" - this is your destiny! Write an article about it too!

HEALING and MYSTICAL PROPERTIES of OBMTB

In the darkness of winter the Oregon Temple Boxer purifies himself for the coming "summer of sin / trials of fire". A yearly ritual of fierce rites of passage to achieve the next level of boxing power. This unique and mystical power is called BIO-FORCE to separate it from what is commonly called CHI. Chi is from air-breathing and training. It accumulates in the tan tien of the chela. Bio-Force accumulates in the head-brain area and is transmitted to the limbs -

Bio-Force is easily attained whereas Chi force takes years longer to develop. It is Bio-Force which we employ for many of our healing rituals. It is the same power which we will into a weaponized form of defense. Will, intent and practice comprise the main aspects of guiding the Bio-Force to it's various destinations. The power of "herb-magic" is often used to enhance the effects of OBMT Boxing. Herb Magic offers the OBMT Boxer the doorway to the ancients. Ghost boxing in the sacred circles is not uncommon. A cold wind blows from Valhalla on such nights - owls hoots, wolves howl, horses bay -- the dust of ages mingles with the sweat of the living.
